Plymouth Catch and Cook Days £70pp
Spend a day fishing and sailing on the classic boat Josefine by the Plymouth breakwater and beyond for £70pp. Learn how to catch, dispatch, prepare your fish and cook it up in Josefine's galley - it'll be the freshest fish you've ever eaten!
Catch and Cook Day Sail trips start around 10am or 11am from Mayflower Marina, Plymouth, Devon (on the Devon / Cornwall border). For dates and times of all the catch and cook day trips available this year visit our Sailing Calendar.
We have a selection of rods and hand lines on board, included in the price, all rigged up for you to catch some fish - but of course you are welcome to bring your own fishing gear.

Fish you're likely to catch
We'll sail out into Plymouth sound and maybe past the break water and hunt down a shoal of Mackerel, which find strings of feathered hooks irresistible as they look like shiny little fish - often you can get up to 4 or 5 on the same line; and where there's Mackerel there's usually also Pollack. The area is also teeming with bass and whiting. We'll explain the art of catching fish, how to dispatch, gut, fillet and skin your catch. |

Catch and Cook Day sample itinerary
We will meet you outside the marina office and take you over to Josefine. You will be given a lifejacket for the day and a safety briefing once you're settled on board.
Once the lines are slipped we'll hoist the sails, head out to the sound and start fishing! We'll try several different spots during the day finding ledges, holes and wrecks on the sea bed from the chart.
Once Laura, 1st Mate and professional chef, has shown you how to prepare your catch, she'll nip down below and turn your fish into a dish - we promise it'll be the freshest fish you'll ever have eaten! Laura will show any budding chefs how best to cook their fish - or you can lay back on the aft deck and await your supper while we sail back to Mayflower Marina, Plymouth.
