9th August 2011
A lovely sail was had by all yesterday, the wind was a good force 5 and the sea relatively flat so Josefine was zooming about the Sound at over 6 knots in the sunshine!
Josefine is setting sail for Paimpol in Brittany tomorrow morning for the bi-annual Festival du Chant de Marins which this year has a Celtic theme - it's looking like it'll be a good sail across the channel with NW 3 to 4 backing SW 4 or 5 with a possible force 6 - perfect sailing weather!

29th June 2011
Plymouth Classics is being rearranged! We have received confirmation that Plymouth Classics will go ahead this year on the following weekend, 30th and 31st July 2011 in Sutton Harbour. A few good people have decided to organise the event themselves after the original organisers cancelled it. Josefine has rearranged her schedule to attend and we are now sailing to Fowey on 1st August. Details and prices for the new Plymouth Classics will be up on the sailing calendar shortly.

15th June 2011
We received the sad news last week that the Plymouth Classics 2011 has been cancelled due to the lack of boats wanting to race. Josefine has attended the Classics since 2006 offering day sails to watch the racing or to be part of the parade of sail. It really is a shame that Plymouth with its rich maritime history no longer has a celebration of traditional boats - especially as it's twinned with Brest which has the biggest maritime festival in the world!
Josefine is instead offering a Devon or Cornwall weekend cruise from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July for £198pp. Depending on the wind we'll sail along the Devon or Cornish coastlines (or possibly a bit of both - that's the beauty of Plymouth!) and anchor in some lovely bays along the way.

5th May 2011
The Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival 2011 Song Books and souveneir CDs are now available to buy from the RNLI Shop in Falmouth, the Maritime Museum and the Cornish Store. Books are £4 and Cd's £10 in the shops.
They will also be available through Falmouth Shout's website in the very near future for those not able to get to Falmouth.

23rd April 2011
The Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival 2011 line up can now be seen on the Falmouth Shout website!
There are once again dozens of sea shanty groups from around the country performing at venues around Falmouth. There are still places available to sail to the festival on Josefine from Plymouth, staying aboard on a bunk and breakfast basis in Falmouth at the heart of the festival.
Falmouth Shout, the organisers of the festival, have a CD of sea shanties and song books available to buy from their website - so you can get practicing before hand!

16th April 2011
The Paimpol Chant de Marin 2011 festival line up has been unveiled!
This years theme is 'Celtic Calls' with celtic and sea shanty groups from Scotland, Ireland, England, Brittany and as far as Quebec and the USA playing at the festival.

5th April 2011
The America's Cup is coming to Plymouth on 10th to 18th of September this year! We're planning to offer some special trips out on Josefine to go and watch the racing.
There will be days bookable on a per person basis and Josefine will also be available for whole boat charter - it's an ideal event to take your business clients on or for an office day out.

1st April 2011
We got Josefine alongside the wall at 0515 on 31st March (after getting up at 0400 to strong winds, rain and a fouled anchor! It was absolutely solid but the old trick of letting some chain out, motoring forward and pulling on the anchor buoy worked.) The wind did have the advantage of pushing us nicely towards the wall - no need to lasso any bollards. I took some photos of Josefine dried out before we started any work so you'll have before and after shots!
To see the photos go to the Sail Josefine facebook page by following the link at the top of the page.
Today there's been not one but three surveyors looking at Josefine! Peter Davis our surveyor was joined by two MCA surveyors come to look at Josefine as it's her 5 year renewal survey. Most of the hull has been checked including exposing some of the fastenings - it's always terrible having to see parts of her gouged out but we know they're all sound now though. All the weed in the photos has been scraped off - she's pretty clean really - and her port side has been pressure washed off.

29th March 2011
We're busy with the final preparations for Josefine's MCA inspection on 1st April (it's like a really thorough MOT for boats registered for charter work - absolutely everything is scrutinised and checked: the hull fastenings, the engine, the lifejackets, the sails....).
Josefine will be alongside the wall of the Torpoint Yacht harbour from this Thursday, because she's so big we don't get her lifted out of the water we wait for some really high spring tides and lean her against a wall where the tide will go out leaving her high and dry -it's then a race against the tide to get as much done as you can that day! She'll be there for a week for her inspection and for us to pressure wash off her hull, scrape off all the mussels - hopefully not as many as last year, and to put a new coat of antifouling on her underside. We'll also be using the time she's afloat to sand and paint her top-sides so she'll soon be all shiny and beautiful with her new paint ready for the season.

3rd March 2011
The 2011 sailing calendar of organised sailing trips is now live, with some new special trips available. We've introduced some two hour evening Supper Sails from Mayflower Marina in Plymouth for you to be able to find out what sailing on Josefine is all about, getting you back to Mayflower Marina in time for supper - make it an evening out by eating at Jolly Jacks after your trip.
For those who like fishing, and eating what they catch, we've organised some special Catch and Cook days. Spend a whole day fishing on Josefine and we'll turn your fish into a dish - it'll be the freshest fish you'll ever have eaten!
Prices for the Supper Sails and Catch and Cook days will be available soon. Trip information is also now on the sailing calendar for the Plymouth Classics, the program isn't yet finalised but there will be racing in the sound followed by music in the marquee by the Navy Inn in the evenings.

January 2011
Josefine is currently undergoing winter maintenance out on her mooring. At the end of March we are planning to dry her out alongside the wall at Torpoint Ballast Pond (Torpoint Yacht Harbour), which is just across from her mooring, to give her her yearly scrub and coating of anti-fouling.
The 2011 sailing calendar of organised sailing trips is coming together, this year sees the return of Paimpol Festival du chant de marin 2011 which is to be a celebration of celtic music. We are also planning some afternoon and evening sails to and from Mayflower Marina- so you'll be able to go for a sail and be back in time to dine at Jolly Jacks!

Spring 2010
Josefine has been undergoing her final maintenance -a lot later in the year than usual due to the relocation of the business. We can't wait to get out sailing!
There are some gems of fetivals on the 2010 sailing calendar of organised sailing holidays on Josefine, which are not to be missed. The Mousehole Sea Salts and Sail festival, from the 7th to the 11th July this year, is one of our favourites. I've been trying to put into words why it's so special but I think it's something that you just have to experience. It's the combination of the setting, that first glimpse of the fairy tale St Micheal's Mount as you sail into Mounts Bay, entering the historic harbour of Mousehole packed with traditional sailing vessels, the atmosphere created by the wonderful people of Mousehole who put so much energy into organising the event every two years, the fresh sea food, the history... it truly is a celebration of Cornwall's maritime history.
There will shortly be some photos of when Josefine last went to the festival in 2006 on our Mousehole Sea, Salts and Sail festival page. We're going to be compiling a page of information about each of the maritime festivals Josefine visits and also places where she sails to, to try and make it easier for you to plan your sailing holiday on Josefine as you'll be able to see what it's like before you sail there! Keep coming back to check the new entries on the festivals and events page, and let us know if there's anything you think we've missed out or if you've got any suggestions or photos to include. We look forward to sailing with you!

Summer 2009
Josefine has had a busy season. She has relocated from Watchet to Plymouth and is now on her own mooring in 50ft of clear blue water (that is at low water!) giving 24/7 access. Josefine was fully booked for charters to festivals in England and France, plus local day sails - so book early for next year!
More recently, Josefine has starred in a German TV network production of a Rosamunde Pilcher novel, due to be on air early 2010 - Josefine will be seen by around 9 million German viewers.
The Josefine web site is currently undergoing a refit, so come back soon and see our exciting sailing schedule from our new base of Plymouth!
